James 4- Forget me, what about Jesus?

So God is so good and he always provides the right word at the right time. Once again while talking with my prayer partner and friend I stumbled across this scripture and thought it would be a great topic for discussion.


James 4: 1-4

Verse 1 really stuck out for me.

James 4:1
1From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

I started to think about times that I have had arguments or fights with other people and how the source of those arguments may have stemmed from the lusts of my flesh. Like dang Lord, was it because I was being selfish? Was it because I was self-centered and solely thinking of my own agenda and gain? Was it because I was being prideful and refused to humble myself? Was it because I didn't want to be wrong and admit that I was wrong?

Because pride, selfishness and being self-absorbed are all characteristics of the flesh. Conversely, humility, patience, a spirit of forgiveness, giving people room to grow, sowing peace, not being quick to judge and assume, are characteristics of God.

Thank God for God for saving a wretch like me. I've got a long way to go y'all but I'm getting there. :-)
